History

Since its origins in the early 1970s, Infor ERP SX.enterprise has evolved into a powerful tool today to help meet the need by wholesale distributors to run their end-to-end operations without delays, errors, and inefficiencies. The application also enables distributors to scale and integrate new software capabilities to handle any business challenge in the rapidly changing market.

The core of SX.enterprise first launched in response to small distributors needing a more effective way of tracking inventory and performing basic accounting functions. Known as GAP, the application provided the capability to manage a few work stations with green screens and a key to automatically update transactions for the day. By 1989, the product had grown to incorporate updated technology and accommodate larger distributors managing thousands of suppliers and millions of transactions monthly. The product became known as Trend by NxTrend Technology. With the addition of a graphical user interface in 2000, the application name changed to SX.enterprise.

In 2003, Infor acquired NxTrend Technology. In keeping with its strategy to acquire functionally rich software with experience built in and then make it better, Infor has continued to invest its wealth of resources and years of distribution industry expertise in SX.enterprise to accommodate the needs of distributors today and in years to come.

Some new enhancements include:

  • Non-stock processing—enables better management of non-stock inventory remaining in the warehouse, allowing counting and moving of warehouse inventory without a record of it when it leaves; addresses units-of-measure conversions, special price costing, and serial processing; notifies customer service when a surplus exists.
  • Credit card processing—supports several new capabilities including multi-merchant support, Level II and III processing, and data encryption capabilities for PCI compliance.
  • Multi-line sourcing—allows selection of multiple line items at the same time and ties them to a single PO or warehouse transfer.
  • Pricing and rebate enhancements—enables mass maintenance of all rebate and pricing records, with pricing modifier added for additional discounts or increases to product prices based on sales ranks and geography.

With its financial strength, global reach, industry best practices built in, and strategy to leverage innovative technologies such as Infor Open SOA (service-oriented architecture), Infor is committed to:

  • Provide the flexibility you need to integrate other Infor or non-Infor solutions easily and cost-effectively—without disrupting your business processes
  • Offer lower total cost of ownership—and fast ROI
  • Enrich, extend, and evolve your Infor solutions to meet your needs—and on your timeline
